This year, Pets Are Loving Support celebrates its 20th year of serving companion pets in the Metro Atlanta area. Over the years we have seen our share of challenges. However, I believe our greatest challenge came just last year. In 2009, monetary donations almost ceased to exist due to the economic struggles of our Nation. Thankfully, our leadership saw the downward turn coming in 2008, and we looked at it as an opportunity to craft a dynamic new vision for P.A.L.S.
Simply put, we had to devise ways to lower our costs without jeopardizing the health and well being of the many companion pets in our program. For example, we used to purchase heartguard and flea preventative products through our local veterinarians. The result of a lot of hard work and negotiation, we now get our supplies directly through distributors online at a much reduced cost. The same can be said for our prescription foods for pets with illnesses and special needs.
Our mission is to promote the welfare of pet companions through protection, advocacy, education and example. We look forward to updating you on the progress of our new programs and services in the coming months.
